What Business Issues are overcome?

1. Within Microsoft Project online, there is no out-of-box functionality for automatically archiving projects on completion and recovery when needed.


2. Within Microsoft Project online, there is no out-of-box functionality for taking project snapshots/backups and recovery when needed.


3. Within Microsoft Project online, there is no out-of-box functionality to take system configuration backup prior to any change. There is no way to revert back to any earlier version of the configuration if anything goes wrong.

  • Does Project Online not have a backup functionality as on-prem Project Server?

    Unfortunatley not.  

    Project Online is a shared public enviornment/ platform. Users do not have the same admin functionality as on-prem Project Server. There is no Out-of-Box functionality to take project, resource or PWA configuration backups. Hence, there is no way to revert back to any earlier snapshot of inidividual entities such as project, resource or PWA configuration components such as Custom fields, views, security groups etc, should anything go wrong.


    The only option that the users has is to request  (from Microsoft back-end support team) a restore of the entire PWA instance rather than a specific entitiy!


  • Can you provide assistance during migration?

    Absolutely. In fact, we would recomend that. 

    You will need to allow minimum of 2 man-days consultancy. 


    Note: additional consultancy time may be suggested if you have a very large complex setup and additional training is needed in the use of the tool.
